This special scholarship is named in honour of Will McKern—an amazing young man who embodied everything this award represents. It recognises an apprentice who displays outstanding and inspirational qualities both in their work and in their personal life.
The 2025 recipient of the Outstanding Construction/Trade Apprentice of the Year is… Nicholas Stubbings from Rhys Tremble Concreting & Engineering! ![]()

Nick is one of those apprentices you feel lucky to have on your team—reliable, switched on, and great to be around. From day one, he’s brought good humour and serious effort, always ready to roll up his sleeves and get the job done. He’s achieved every learning goal set for him and continues to grow in confidence with every project.
But what really sets Nick apart is his character. Easygoing, respectful, and hardworking, he makes the workplace a better place for everyone around him. And beyond work, he’s just as committed—throwing his energy into his footy club, where he was named Club Person of the Year for his tireless efforts behind the scenes.
Whether he’s on the tools or out in the community, Nick gives 100% every time. A well-deserved recognition for a top young bloke! ![]()
