Behind the cover…

We recently caught up with Ryan Heffer in Napier Street, recreating the spot where his award-winning photo was taken for the 2026 Deniliquin Telephone & Business Directory. Safe to say… our version doesn’t quite compare!

Ryan’s original shot was captured at 5am on a perfect spring morning, timing it just right to avoid any cars and let the beauty of the street shine uninterrupted. The trees were in full blossom, creating a stunning canopy of soft colour that transformed a familiar street into something truly special. It’s one of those everyday views – but Ryan saw it differently.

When we visited, it was the start of autumn and the scene had completely changed. Same street, same spot, but a totally different feel – a great reminder of how much the seasons shape the look and character of our town.

That’s what makes Ryan’s photo so special. It’s not just where it was taken, but when – capturing a fleeting moment of Deniliquin at its very best.
