We’re excited to reveal two new additions to the Windows to our History Project, now on display at the former Deni Clothing Co building in Napier Street!
🎨 Aileen Dent
Born in Deniliquin in 1890, Aileen Dent became one of Australia’s most exhibited portrait artists, with 63 Archibald Prize entries. Her powerful portraits, including a famous wartime image of pilot Jean Burns, left a lasting mark on Australian art.
✈️ RAAF No. 7 Service Flying Training School
During WWII, Deniliquin became home to a busy RAAF training base. More than 2,200 pilots trained here, supported by a strong force of local airwomen — and a community that welcomed them with open arms.
